An Insight by Luke Cowling.
I love the English language. Always have, probably always will. It was my favourite subject during my schooling, and probably the only one actively wanted to excel at. As my professional life leaves little room for creativity, I took to taking my ideas down in a story. Eventually these stories compiled themselves into paragraphs of cohesion, and eventually chapters, and before long I had my very first novel "Owenoak".
I enjoyed writing the first book so much. I had really no idea what to expect from publication, or sales, or any of the post production that comes with producing a piece of art like a book. To be frank, I didn't really care, I was having fun along the way regardless. To my surprise it actually seemed to resonate, which just made the process even more enjoyable.
Then came the idea for the Bestiary, from a library of nerdy life lived. Tolkien's one is brilliant and inspirational. Final Fantasy did them on their old pixelated games that we all recall fondly with our rosey-tinted glasses. I wanted to emulate these collections that I loved so much, with my own ideas and tweaks, thus the NFTMC series was born. I'll probably continue it some day, as the Owenoak series evolves and the universe expands.
After I finished that series, and set aside monster making exhausted with the work of months of repetition, I began to get that itch when I new story starts to inseminate itself in your mind. It's an itch that I didn't take long to give into, and began writing my next novel - the Owenoak sequel. It's coming along nicely, and I am extremely proud of it, probably more so than any of my other works, but we'll see how it pans out, it's still new.
This is probably the best medium for insights like that though, I have no socials in the intent of privacy. But from time to time I do feel that need to voice an opinion, or an insight, commentary, etc. Mostly from an author's perspective, though perhaps not always, and thus the blog was born. So stay tuned for more snippets.
